Philips Strand -Going green in TV studios and permanent installs with wireless control
As the entertainment lighting industry is undergoing a wave of change with new sources and luminaires based on LED technology so too, is the media industry which is reinventing itself for a new more competitive landscape.
Network 10 goes 'Green' with the Philips Selecon PL1 LED Wash Luminaire
Outstanding 80 watt power consumption (also reducing the cost of ownership cutting lamp replacement enormously), ease of color-balancing, being able to pan, great with working with set TV LCD screens and off center talent (spread is very even across the field) are among the top reasons for Australia's Network 10 uses Philips Selecon PL1 fill (wash) LEDs.

Representing a breakthrough for independent producers and filmmakers in terms of features, performance and price, Sony Electronics is unveiling its first professional handheld digital production camera with a Super 35mm imager.
The new PMW-F3 camcorder is designed for a range of digital production applications -- from commercial, documentary, television and feature film production to markets such as education, corporate and government and more.
The new F3 camcorder is based on Sony's XDCAM EX workflow and uses Sony's SxSTM ExpressCard-based recording media format. Its Super 35mm CMOS imager delivers shallow depth of field, with high sensitivity and low noise levels (ISO 800, F11; and S/N ratio of 63dB in 1920x1080/59.94i mode), as well as wide dynamic range.
The camcorder offers shooters a wide range of image creation options. Through the use of an HD-SDI dual-link output for external recording (4:2:2 1080 50/59.94P as standard; and RGB 1080 23.98/25/29.97PsF as an option), footage shot with the F3 can be seamlessly inter- cut with content shot on Sony's F35 or SRW-9000PL cameras.
SONY unveils first professional handheld super 35mm digital production camera
The Sony HXR-NX3D1 NXCAM 3D Compact Camcorder is literally two camcorders in one, facilitating the capture of high-definition stereoscopic 3D video at full 1920 x 1080 resolution. The camera borrows several elements from Sony's NXCAM line, such as the HD native Exmor R CMOS sensor (1/4", with ClearVid pixel array), the 12x Sony "G" lens (10x in 3D mode), and solid-state recording of AVCHD in many formats. (For the HXR-NX3D1, the imaging elements are, of course, doubled.) But as a single-body handheld 3D camcorder, the professional NX3D1 brings several innovations to the table for this emerging class of camcorders.

Avid's new "Media Composer 6, with a fresh 64-bit code base. Key features in this update include an expansion of Avid's AMA, which now supports native AVCHD, native RED Epic, ProRes encode and decode, and a new DNxHD 4:4:4 codec.

Gerr Audio Booth: DiGiCo SD10-24: Live Digital Console with Sleath Digital Processing
The SD10-24 was designed to provide a smaller footprint console for a particular segment of the market, but with no reduction in functionality or number of inputs and outputs. There is also the SD10B-24 broadcast specific product, this will be particularly useful for OB trucks, where space is often very limited but a high channel and buss count is required to handle 5.1 audio systems.
The control surface features 25 100mm touch sensitive faders, providing fast access to the console's large number of channels, which include 96 with full processing, 12 of which can be configured as full Flexi Channels - and outputs that can be assigned across the surface. All channels have dual mono inputs for fast 'Main' and 'Alt' channel switching. Smart Key Macros are provided, accessed via four banks of ten backlit keys. The user can program these to control any functions, simple or complex, that they want to recall at the push of a button.
Gerr Audio Booth: DiGiCo Unveils NANO, MINI I/O Racks
DiGiCo is launching the latest in its series of I/O rack modules at Booth 530, making the company's audio systems even more flexible. The new MINI and NANO racks offer a wide range of input and output options for any DiGiCo SD audio system. Multiple DiGiCo mixing consoles can be positioned in an "Optocore" 2G opti- cal loop, ideally suited to complex live or broadcast productions where multiple consoles need to share and sub-mix I/O. A perfect example of how this can work in the real world is a scenario of FOH, monitors and a live broadcast feed. Where the MINI and NANO racks come into their own is that, instead of all the I/O connections having to be in one place, they can be distributed throughout a venue at the most conve- nient points.

GlowUp is a portable, battery-powered luminaire that removes the logistical headache of running cables at events – dramatically reducing set-up time, while saving money and improving safety.
Based on durable, high-power LEDs, GlowUp offers years of energy-efficient service. Power is stored in a rechargeable lithium battery, a tried and tested technology found in many portable consumer devices such as mobile phones. The battery is lightweight making the fixture easy to carry and can be recharged 2000 times without suffering from 'memory' or capacity loss. GlowUp is fully programmable allowing users to select scenes from a library containing dozens of suggested colors as well as a number of pre-programmed, color-changing sequences.
